The city has been enveloped in this thick fog, like we're living on the moors in a Sherlock Holmes novel. I do not know if that reference makes sense, as I have only read one Sherlock Holmes novel and in it he was an opium junkie and it was primarily urban, but the general impression I have of Sherlock Holmes involves fog on the moors, though I am unclear about exactly what moors are. Anyway, point is it's sort of creepy, especially because it's pretty abnormal for Melbourne to have fog to quite this extent. I took that photo while walking home from a party tonight. I sort of expected to get murdered because bad things happen in the fog, but I made it home safe.

I took my bike for a ride on Tuesday and rode like four or five kilometres, which is really not all that far but I am pathetically unfit so I was pretty impressed with myself. I had grand plans to take it out every day, so of course I promptly fell ill on Wednesday; all I did for all of Wednesday and most of Thursday was sleep and try not to tilt my head too much as it lead to insane dizziness.

When I was a little kid I used to have dizzy spells, when I was about three, I think. My mother said it used to freak her out so much because she'd always worry it would happen while I was climbing the monkey bars or something and I'd end up dead. I seem to have survived alright though. I don't really remember it, except for this vague impression of sitting on a brown velvet armchair in my house in Canberra and looking at a picture book and then the room suddenly spinning. Thinking about this is making me feel ill again.

I want to do some kind of meme but I can't think of anything.

sam: what's your post about?
fitz: i took a photo of the fog
and then just rambling to fill space
uh
illness
sam: why is there so much
it freaked me out
fitz: dizzy spells when i was little
sam: well no i just thought my glasses were dirty
then i dismissed it
fitz: no it's seriously foggy :|
sam: maybe the world is ending
wouldn't that be cool
fitz: we could camp in an abandoned shopping centre
sam: OH MY GOD
FIC WHERE
fitz: toast marshmellows over a fire in a bin
sam: KAME AND JIN
AND PI
GET
LOCKED IN
SOMEWHERE
AFTER HOURS

All our conversations end up in the same place.

That is a lot of fog. I've had this gross acidic feeling in my stomach for months and despite taking multiple antacids a day, nothing happens.

Paranoia, drabble, who is hotter, anon love, anon hate, truth or dare, five questions, haiku, opinion on characters, DO A MEME!!

I'm still impressed by your cycling. In my head you've turned into Kaidoh, training day and night by the river. I find the fog very pretty lol it looks like heaven!

Your lives are a JE fic.

I told Sam maybe I will write the shopping centre later. For some reason, the idea of them all sitting around a fire is seriously cute, Kame freaking out about whether or not the cops will come and arrest them for trespassing, Pi and Jin being like, "lol fire".

I am just so apathetic right now. I have lost the ability to write fic that is not in a chat window or LJ comment.

Fog is terrifying, because in scary movies, when there is fog someone always dies. It's like a rule. I don't remember if I commented on your bike post but bikes and me just don't get along. I hate them with a passion almost equal to my fish hate. I hope you're not sick anymore :(

okay, so it wasn't dust storms, though i really don't see how what it actually was is any better at all:

[livejournal.com profile] font: how weird
you had a drought last year
huh
[livejournal.com profile] thewhiteprophet: usually really brown here. and dry. it's always really dry.
[livejournal.com profile] font: droughts by the ocean seem weird to me.
[livejournal.com profile] thewhiteprophet: god jenny
we are seriously always
ALWAYS
in the middle of a drought
[livejournal.com profile] font: :(
[livejournal.com profile] thewhiteprophet: we always have water restrictions
like always
[livejournal.com profile] font: how unpleasant.
[livejournal.com profile] thewhiteprophet: yeah seriously
and like
in summer
these bushfires
man
this year they were seriously insane
like
this one burnt for SO LONG
LIKE WEEKS I THINK
we had all this smoke everywhere, really gross
like you could look out the window
and just see white/grey
[livejournal.com profile] font: oh god.
i just
how awful!
[livejournal.com profile] thewhiteprophet: I KNOW
I WAS JUST LIKE
[livejournal.com profile] font: that is completely crazy
[livejournal.com profile] thewhiteprophet: DUMP SOME FUCKING OCEAN WATER ON IT WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE

but i just wanted to say that your insane fog makes me like your upside down and backwards city of fire a little bit more. i love fog. we get really heavy fog here sometimes; i have to cross the mississippi to get to work every morning, and there will be weeks when the bridge just seems to vanish over the river -- you have to take it on faith that if you drive onto it, you will make it to the other side.

It's foggy in suburbia too. Creepy.

Yep, I do believe there's fog on the moors (sort of a wide flat plain somewhere around yorkshire?) Think Wuthering Heights and Heathcliffe bashing his head against the knot of a tree on his wild ramblings on the moor....
Never read Sherlock Holmes.

ok, tangent. Nice picture. I love fog, it's so eerie and post-apocalyptic. There needs to be fog in the adventures of Archer.

Hah, you and Sam are totally Enid and Rebecca from Ghostworld. (the comic, not the stupid movie).

hehehe.
